Establishing in México

It no longer remains challenging for companies to establish a production facility in México. This country offers excellent benefits and incentives such as competitive wage rates, duty-free importation of raw material and equipment, highly skilled managers, supervisors and technicians and world class production facilities.
The maquiladora (in Bond) program was established by the Mexican government in 1965 as a method of US Corporations to capitalize on the Mexican labor market. The maquiladora industry in México represents nearly 3,000 plants with over a million workers with a minimum wage rate of a factory worker, with benefits, of approximately $1.35 per hour as of January 1, 2000.
The steady increase in trade between the U.S. and Mexico, largely due to the increase NAFTA- related activity, has caused El Paso-Juarez to be ranked the 16th in trade among the largest Metropolitan statistical areas in the United States. Approximately 400 out of the 3,000 plants are established in Ciudad Juárez. This represents more than 25% of the total maquiladora employment throughout the country of México. Also, 70 of the Fortune 500 corporations such as General Motors, Ford and General Electric have plants in Juárez.
